Recoleta Cemetery, La Recoleta alfajor

During a recent trip to Mar del Sur, I found a new brand of alfajor… using the Iglesia de Pilar as its logo. Definitely not the best tasting, but a few questions ran through my head: why would anyone choose a church/cemetery complex to name a food product, & would it be recognizable outside of Buenos Aires? Bizarre.

Probably 1) because they needed a special blessing in order to success selling it if the taste is so bad… 2) may be – only may be – because after eating it, you have good chances ending at the cemetery , so it is like a free ticket… 3) Recoleta means for many people a status symbol, so…¿Would you name a caviar brand as Villa 31 o La Salada – even if caviar is little bit salty -?

Hubiera sido mas creativo lanzar una línea de fiambres con esa marca…

    • Hahahaha Caviar “La Salada”… I like it! There’s rarely an alfajor that I don’t like, but this one was pretty foul. If only it came with a blessing…

OMG! All-black pack and named after a cemetery! What kind of a pastry from hell is it? Seems like eating this thing will definitely kill you.
